As I was reading, I realized how many 'downward' words the world uses for the children words like disconnected, unaware, or antisocial.
I wanted to find an 'upward' word instead. One that isn't about an action we have to take or a goal we have to reach, but just about who we are.
The word I found is Luminous.
Benji wasn't 'high-needs' or 'withdrawn' in that grass; he was just being luminous with that pink balloon energy.
