I noticed that when I get stressed out, I feel numb due to sensory overload. I need to do something else to get out of it. I can sometimes ruminate for a loooong time.

Thank you for your advice and for the gentleness in which you write.❤️

Hey thank you for reading! Thats suuuper interesting...makes me wonder if you're body is perhaps a little more sensitive to stress like mine is? Although I've never felt numb (that must not feel good!) my skin can really hurt. Having an invisible reaction sucks, because I find others are unable to grasp the depth of what we are going through.

They’re very hard to explain to others who haven’t experienced them. And going numb isn’t good, even though compared to feeling a lot it might seem like a better option. Managing one’s emotions sometimes can be a challenge.

Super helpful “what to do” at end. I didn’t know sadhguru had a book. I didn’t see meditation but that also helps me

Thanks heaps for reading Saif - I'm stoked to hear you found the tips helpful. His book is really well written and I took away quite a few tips from him including the fasting (which I do almost daily now). Yes you're absolutely right - mediation is a really underrated tool!

Thank you Lydia! This is so helpful. I’m trying the breathing technique among other the things you suggested!

Thank you for reading Isabel! I'm so happy to hear you found some of this helpful. The breathing one has been a game changer - traditional slow breathing methods make me feel a bit like I'm suffocating whereas this calms me right down

Lydia, this was eye-opening in so many ways. You explained stress without making it feel distant or clinical. The part about rumination raising cortisol for hours hit hard; it made me realise how much of stress is something we keep alive without noticing.

I also liked that the tools you shared weren’t dramatic fixes, just small things a person can actually try in daily life.

Thanks for writing this. It felt real.

Aham thank you for sharing your experience - I'm so happy you enjoyed this post. I was also very surprised to learn how long rumination can keep stress in the body, I still catch myself doing it wihtout even realising. Appreciate your comment! 🙏
